Cate Couch
After earning her PhD from Emory University, Cate brings over 8 years of experience in laboratory research specializing in pharmacology and ethnobotany. Botanicals have been used as medicines for centuries worldwide, and they continue to play a crucial role in many cultural practices today, with an estimated 88% of the global population using some form of traditional medicine. Cate’s dissertation research focused on validating traditional medicinal plants as anti-infectives for SARS-CoV-2 and multi-drug resistant bacterial infections.Cate’s background provides a unique lens in psychedelic drug development as she is passionate about ensuring the ethnobotanical history of related medicines remains a priority alongside clinical development. Cate is a passionate advocate for increased funding of both natural product & psychedelic research in parallel to sensible regulation and safety education.
Cate is drawn to the intersection of drug development, business, and law as it provides endless opportunities to constantly learn about cutting edge technologies. She is also passionate about advocating for scientists with novel assets as they embark on the long journey of drug development required to make meaningful impacts to healthcare.
