Karl is a registered patent agent with decades of experience in patent prosecution, patent litigation, and patent validity and infringement opinion work across numerous fields of technology.


Among these technology areas are pharmacology, medicinal chemistry, organic and inorganic chemistry, biochemical and free radical chemistry, molecular biology, in silico drug design and discovery, pharmaceutical formulations and drug delivery, drug metabolism and pharmacokinetics, toxicology, neurophysiology, organ systems physiology, cardiac electrophysiology, membrane biophysics, cancer prevention and treatment, catalytic nanomaterials, wet nanotechnology, natural and synthetic polymers, and supramolecular drugs.


Karl also has deep experience reviewing and analyzing FDA regulatory documents such as Investigational New Drug Applications (INDs), New Drug Applications (NDAs), Abbreviated New Drug Applications (ANDAs), and FDA Orange Book patent listings.


Karl has served as a patent agent and scientific advisor for pharmaceutical clients including Pfizer, Bayer AG, Dupont, Sanofi-Aventis, Hoffmann-La Roche, Merck, Astra-Zeneca, Novartis, Bristol-Myers Squibb, Aventis, OSI Pharmaceuticals, Marion Merrell Dow, Pharmacia & Upjohn, REVA Medical, and Eli Lilly.


Karl is also an inventor on multiple granted patents and pending applications, across various technology spaces that include novel chemical derivatives, next generation DNA and RNA extraction and sequencing, superparamagnetic scaffold spinal cord regeneration, protective medical equipment, smartphone encryption, nanotechnology formulations for cancer prevention and treatment, and pharmaceutical nanoformulations including of cannabinoids and psychedelics.


Karl also serves as Vice President, IP Development, for Princeton Biocode Inc., and is founder and principal of KPD Patents & Scientific Consulting LLC.
