Quincy Obbin

Quincy joins Calyx Law as a legal intern after spending time honing his laboratory and research skills. A rising 2L at the University of Wisconsin, Quincy is invigorated by Calyx’s vision to provide exceptional legal guidance for businesses in the space of psychedelics and cannabis.

Quincy’s general interest in science propelled him to major in biology at Cardinal Stritch University. While obtaining his undergrad Quincy took the opportunity to intern at The Water Technology Accelerator (WaTA) at the Global Water Center in Milwaukee where he got a firsthand view of the intersection between science and industry. At WaTA Quincy collaborated with engineering students and performed experiments to aid in the development of wastewater treatment technology and he witnessed the work from both the bench and the development of prototypes for different water technology products.

Quincy’s positive experience at WaTA led him to pursue more work in a laboratory, and after graduating Quincy joined Versiti Wisconsin, where he performed diagnostic testing for both the Platelet and Hemostasis laboratories. Versiti Wisconsin provided a way for Quincy to gain a substantial amount of proficiency on the bench as well as editing and contributing to the creation of standard operating procedure in the lab.

Quincy is a member of the University of Wisconsin’s Moot Court Board, the Director of Alumni Outreach for the University of Wisconsin’s Black Law Student Association and is part of the university’s Intellectual Property Student Organization. Quincy enjoys world music, listening to podcasts, and cooking.
